Bringing readers new to comics into comic shops is only one facet of FCBD. The people who spend the most dollars in the actual shops are already comics readers.

The industry needs more of the former than the latter though.

It's unlike any other FCBD book ever. It's charming and also smart in its design even down to the dimensions of the book. It's working its magic on the internets everywhere. It was a brilliant move by Archaia, and they usually stand out with their flipbooks in the past.

Oh I was sure of that! These were printed in China by GlobalPSD, which is an at least somewhat environmentally aware printing outfit. These cost some money to create. Even the endpapers are stylishly patterned. Hats off to designer Jon Adams and the production manager Scott Newman.

Marvel: We know you're already buying two AvX books and so we already know you're a sucker to begin with--here's a reprint of a book you already paid $3 for a couple months ago.

But oh yeah, all the new comics readers who will be grabbed by Avengers 12.1, forgot about those guys.

DC: Here's a comic with Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman on the cover, but the story's really about Pandora.

Nice job, Time-Warner.

Unfortunately for your example, the DC book has generated a ton of buzz and, despite being one of the more common FCBD books, is now selling on eBay for as much as $5.89 due to its content. :D

Another in a string of surprising successes by DC!

And how much of that eBay money is going to DC?
Thought so.

And I wonder how a person new to comics is going to react to a book with Supes, Bats, and WW shown predominantly on the cover, but whom barely show up in the pages of the comic inside?

The same way they'd react to any other comic book, novel or movie that doesn't feature the main characters in the first chapter/ten minutes of the film.

How many people walked out of the Avengers because the full team wasn't assembled in the first ten minutes of the movie?

Haven't see the movie yet, so I won't go there, only to say your point is totally different from what I'm talking about. New 52 was more like a song claiming it was a duet with Madonna, only she only sang in the last few seconds of the song, and that was really a sample of "Like a Prayer."

If you weren't so painfully obtuse, you'd realize that $5.89 on eBay for a ubiquitous freebie indicates a level of demand, and also that who got that $5.89 has less than nothing to do with anything.

Go on, post another stupid thing, I dares ya!

Would you consider a trade?

Two of my own shitty produced comics for your highly priced free comic?

Is any of that demand on eBay from new readers or current fans online? Most certainly the latter.
