Yost & Kyle Take On Amazing X-Men

Interview amazingly light on detail...

Source: Join Chris Yost, Craig Kyle & Colossus on Amazing X-Men

In an effort to contain writer Jason Aaron, Marvel announced that writers Chris Yost and Craig Kyle will once again team up and wrest control of the Amazing X-Men title (perhaps to get rid of that pesky Nightcrawler again?) from him.

The Kyle/Yost run will will contain the same core X-Men team that started the title. The writers were elusive about any new characters, though they do have a fondess for Colossus.

"Craig Kyle: We love the all the classic X-characters and yes! They [classic X-Men] will absolutely be the core of our team moving forward. That said, we’ve had a chance to work will a lot of the up and coming X-Men and we love them too. It’s too early to discuss specifics as to who will or won’t be on the team I can tell you Chris and I both love Colossus and he’s someone we both feel needs to be on this journey with us."

When asked what their "arc" will consist of, they were even more tight-lipped:

"Craig Kyle: We plan to tell big, surprising, fun and emotional rides for the characters that hopefully the fans will want to read again and again. That’s the plan anyway. Wish us luck.

Chris Yost: The first arc should give people a sense of the scale we’re going for here."

Uh... yeah.

So anyway, the team starts this June with Amazing X-Men #8, after Aaron gives up the reins on issue #6. Kathryn Immonen will be the writer on issue #7, Artist Ed McGuiness will continue on art duties.

"I see all those hairy Wendigos as representative of my sexuality, yearning to grasp Wolverine and feel the penetration of his hard claws," said Jason Aaron of the cover. "I'm going to miss this book."

The Marts Reign of Terror begins, eliminating all the unique voices on the X-Books and stuffing them with his buddies.

I strongly doubt that.

Jason Aaron is a unique voice? Chris Yost and Craig Kyle aren't unique voices?

Huh.

Stop. Just stop thinking about it as you'll have an aneurism just working the 'logic' out of it.

I guess we all have our favorite writers. I'm not anti-Jason Aaron or anything. He's fine and I've got the first trade on pre-order. So I hope it's good.

But I'm also happy to have Yost and Kyle on the series and even happier that Ed McGuinness is staying on art duties.

I'd imagine Jason Aaron wouldn't be leaving the title unless he wanted to leave the title but I don't know that either way.

No you were right and I agree with your statement I was trying to stop you from working out 'Bass Logic'

I don't. The positive is that I work in a comics shop and can tell people Aaron was booted off the book.

Shit, I'm on two weeks vacation

Fact is: Nick Lowe was editing X-Men books, Jason Aaron was writing two. Mike Marts is editing the X-Books now, and Aaron is writing....none.

Bendis will be next, Marts gave an interview on CBR where he said he wouldnt have brought the All New X-Men book out. Then the X-Books will be in the shitter for another decade. Thank God I'm emigrating.

Well, he's writing Original Sin and maybe a new series or something in the aftermath, I'm sure.
