In his defense, especially when it comes to the X-Men, Grant Morrison fixed the toys before putting them back into the box. It was the writers who came after him (*cough* Chuck Austen *cough*) that broke them all over again.
I liked his run, but I wouldn't say he "fixed" (in the sense of repairing the changes he made to the status quo) much of anything. The X-Universe was a dramatically different place after Morrison than it was before. This is unlike how he concluded JLA.
