So i read the first couple of issues of the classic stuff back when Marvel reprinted it, don't care. Still ignore that stuff in the back of the Moore stuff.

I am digging the hell out of the Moore run. It truly is great stuff.

How long is Chuck Austen on the book? His art is ugly. Like, seriously, it hurts my eyes. The only artist I can ever remember liking less is Gary Erskine.

Chuck Austen's art is actually better than I thought it would be!

I'm pretty sure he's gone soon anyway and Rick Veitch will arrive.

I was going to pick up the hardcover and then saw that it was freakin' $36AU for 4 issues.

They are charging $4.99 and issue for it here. It is generally around 43 pages of content (not all comic or the comic you are really buying), it is really about 12 issues worth of comic at regular page counts. There are usually 21 pages of the main bill, a few pages of behind the scene stuff and then some classic Marvelman reprint stuff that I assume is supposed to be relevant to the content of the main story that issue.

I would assume that somewhere down the line they will do a much more friendly reader version that will package up more of the main story without the lesser stuff. A Ultimate collection type deal if you will.

But yeah, it is a little steep.

Well, the ad for #9 had Veitch artwork, so here's hoping.

While Veitch is a much better artist (and writer), his Miracleman is pretty fuckin' awful in places (especially the birth scenes).

Veitch comes on with 9. Totleben takes over with 11 I think.

They may bump it up an issue because issue 8 was a bunch of reprints.

This thread makes me want to see Chuck Austen's triumphant return to comics.

Chuck Austen is capable of writing some good stuff.

His Superman: Metropolis maxi-series starring Jimmy Olsen was really great. But then I'm a big Jimmy Olsen nerd.

He can always go back to his 'autobiography" series...
