You know, I've been watching TNG reruns lately and I have to say: they mostly don't hold up. I mean, I used to love the show and watched it religiously, but I think they've dated worse than TOS has!

DS9 continues to be the franchise's high point, IMO...

The dated issues with TNG can mostly be fixed by updating the SFX, imo.
Except Wesley Crusher. That little prick needs to be CGI'ed out and replaced with a robot with four boobies.

I guess it depends on which season of TNG you're talking about. I think the last few seasons hold up pretty well. The first couple of seasons are definitely baaaaaddddd. The other seasons can seem dated compared to the advancements in sci-fi since, but I still love them.

It's not the SFX. It's all the earnest standing around and philosophising: SO early-90s. Also, the idea of having families on a ship like the Enterprise is more Roddenberry hippy-shit.
