In an Oscar-worthy performance, Uncanny X-Force writer Rick Remender "leaked" a "spoiler" from an upcoming story on Twitter. WARNING! SPOILERS INSIDE!
Source: Bleeding CoolRIch Johnston over at Bleeding Cool,
a notriously anti-spoiler website, leaked the image below, featuring Kid Apocalypse from Uncanny X-Force and Wolverine and the X-Men dressed up as Apocalypse. The "leak" occurred via a very public exchange between Remender and Marvel editor Nick Lowe on Twitter, and featured a drawn out exchange discussing how to delete a Yfrog image and tweet, as well as a stunning performance from Lowe, who tweeted, in all caps, "Um, Rick, that wasn't a DM. GET IT DOWN!"
Bravo, Nick Lowe. I laughed. I cried. I touched myself a little bit.
The exchange took just long enough for the picture to end up
posted on Reddit, and subsequently every comic book website known to man.
Considering
Marvel's recent attempts to punish websites for publishing leaked stories, it seems odd that their staff would engage in such an embarassing public display, rather than picking up the telephone and getting the pics off the net as quickly as possible... unless, of course, the
intention was for the pic to get leaked and spread virally throughout the net, in which case it was actually a pretty clever move.
What do you think?
