The Smokin' Aces director released a sizzle reel to show off what his Daredevil adaptation might look like.

So, there's been a lot of talk lately about where the adaptation rights for Daredevil will end up.  Is the next movie, if there is a next movie, going to be made by Marvel, or by its current home, Fox?  Who the hell knows?

In any case, director Joe Carnahan has some ideas when it comes to what a Daredevil film directed by him would look like.  In fact, this sizzle reel, which he had posted to the internet sometime last night, accomplishes two things: 1.) it makes people who don't work in film and television familiar with the term "sizzle reel," so now a lot of internet commentors can use it like they've known what that means all along, and 2.) showcases some classic Frank Miller artwork, as panels from his run on the Daredevil comic book are spread throughout the below clip. You'll catch a few glimpses of original action, but mostly it makes use of atmosphere, and establishes a 70's New York vibe (what with its found footage of Reggie Jackson, Bruce Lee, and Walter Hill's The Warriors), the very milieu Miller was reacting to when he started his landmark run with the character.  Dig the Curtis Mayfield-giving-way-to-Edgar-Winter soundtrack!

Going by the above clip, it seems Carnahan has some affinity for Miller's mid-80's "Born Again" storyline from Daredevil, which makes sense, considering he was all too happy to make a friggin' movie out of The A-Team, for god's sake.  

This may be the last we see of Matt Murdock as directed by Joe Carnahan, or it may not be.  Whatever.  Take a look and discuss.

Would probably go nuts for a film adaptation of Born Again.

One that preferably replaces Nuke with Bullseye and maybe works in the death of Karen Page and Daredevil going apeshit on Kingpin.
