Thank you SD, was hoping someone was paying attention to this trailer launch today (as I was still mostly away with visiting parents all day)

Why even call it World War Z? I guess to just cash in on the name.

And now I have enough nightmare fuel for a year. A tidal wave of the undead, it's like all the plagues wrapped in one.

And it's a good title. I was hoping for something that felt a little more docu-drama- interviews with multiple protagonists introducing flashbacks to them during the war. I expect to much out of hollywood apparently.

Agreed. Based on the trailer, it looks like they completely ignored the source material and made a generic action/disaster/zombie movie. :smt011

I get that sometimes you have to change things up. But when you go so far as to change even how the zombies behave, what's the freaking point? IIRC, the zombies in WWZ were shamblers, not running-tidal-waves.

I generally don't mind when adaptations don't stick closely to the source material. But this just seems to be something COMPLETELY different.

I know the documentary/oral history format of the book would've been difficult to do with so many stories.. but you could've easily done something sort of like the first half of District 9, where they kept cutting into the videotaped interviews, and just maybe followed 1-3 stories rather than dozens.. maybe tying them all together so it'd be a singular story or something, for movie purposes.. but still keeping that oral history/interview format.

Instead, they decided to make a disaster porn movie with really bad CGI on the swarms of zombies, and Brad Pitt out to save the world.

Yeah, the super zombies is my major gripe against this.

I'm kind of bummed they changed it so much, all the different scenarios would have been cool. That said, I think it looks pretty good.
