Stealing a joke that The Outhouse made up last month, Image Comics has released a fake Marvel NOW! teaser!
Source: Press Release Check out this teaser from Image Comics, which pokes fun at Marvel's Marvel NOW! teasers, which all feature a single adjective describing an upcoming book by a specified creative team. Unlike The Outhouse, who made a similar joke last month with a teaser entitled "Assrape," Image simply used a standard font. The Outhouse was also too cheap to pay $24.99 for the specialized version of Garamond that Marvel uses in its adjective teasers, but we at least spent a half hour cutting and pasting letters from other teasers in order to create our more authentic one.
Like The Outhouse's teaser, Image's teaser is also specifically based on the teaser that led to Uncanny X-Men, a Cyclops-focused series. Unlike The Outhouse, however, Image has already put out 57 other teasers this week, so the message may be lost amidst a series of vague images that people tend to forget about by the time an actual announcement is made.
Comic companies: stop. Just tell us what you're putting out. It's not cute anymore.
In any case, here's Image's teaser. What do you think it's about? Our guess is Uncanny Skullkickers, which will presumably feature murderers, villains or minority suppression squads like Marvel's Uncanny-themed books.
