Christmas came early for people who enjoy the misfortune of fans of toxic Batgirl Stephanie Brown.
Source: Bleeding Cool Fans of Stephanie Brown had something to look forward to for the first time in over a year yesterday when The Outhouse broke the rumor that Gail Simone would be writing a new Stephanie Brown book for DC Comics. Simone was fired last week from her job as writer of Batgirl, a title starring interloping harlot Barbara Gordon, instead of the preferred Stephanie in the cape and cowl. However, Simone announced on Twitter today that she would be the new writer of... the same old Batgirl book.
This news is good for Simone, who has done what not even superstar prima donna Rob Liefeld could not, in defeating DC's editorial reign of terror and forcing them to reverse their decision and give her back her job, thanks to the support of both hardcore Simone fans and also decent human beings in general who don't think email is an appropriate way to fire someone. However, it is just more salt in the wound for Brown fans, who have played the Charlie Brown to DC Comics leader Dan Didio's Lucy over and over again for the past year when it comes to teasing and then denying the return of Stephanie.
The Outhouse is happy that Simone has moved into a new position of power as an untouchable creative force that can exercise her will with absolutely no checks or balances, which is always a good thing, but seriously disappointed in DC Comics for yet another plot to crush the hopes and dreams of people who only want to see their favorite teen character returned to her former prominence in the DCU.
