Shocking and disturbing comments marked the response of one blogger and fan of the recently canceled sitcom.
Readers were shocked this morning to learn about one blogger's response to ABC's cancelation of Don't Trust the B***** in Apartment 23, a comedy starring Krysten Ritter, Dreama Walker, and James Van Der Beek. The show was pulled from the network's lineup yesterday, after being jerked around in its Tuesday night time slot, leaving eight unaired episodes in its second season. In response, a blogger for a moderately popular comic book website said that he would like to find the ABC executive responsible for the decision, tie him to a tree, and beat him repeatedly with a large stick.
"What the fuck?" said the blogger, visibly upset. "Did we need more room for American Idol clones and shitty dance shows? This was one of the most edgy and original shows on television. I'll kill the person responsible for this."
While many fans were upset about the cancelation, starting a Facebook group to save the show and taking to other social media to decry its loss and support the stars, the blogger's response seems a bit harsh in reaction to the loss of a television show. "I understand being upset," said one fan after hearing about the blogger's comments. "It was a really funny show. Krysten Ritter is a goddess, and James Van Der Beek's portrayal of an eccentric version of himself is quite possibly the greatest thing to ever air on TV. I could see wishing that an asteroid would fall out of the sky and land on the home of Disney CEO Bob Iger or some other corporate big wig, killing the executive's family, and pets but leaving him alive so that he can suffer the way fans of the show are right now. I mean, that would be reasonable. But to want to inflict the violence personally? It seems a bit much."
Responding to criticism, the blogger clarified his position. "I'm not saying that I'm going to go out, kidnap an ABC executive, bind and gag him, throw him in the trunk of my car, drive out to a remote and secluded location somewhere in the Mexican desert, drag him out of the car, bury him up to his neck in the sand, and watch as his face is devoured by scorpions and whatever kind of lizards live there, which I am too angry to look up on Wikipedia," he wrote.
"I'm just saying that, in a perfect world, if there were no consequences, and I managed to get my hands on the person responsible for cancelling the show, I would like to use a sharp rock to saw off his testicles and then stuff them in his mouth until he suffocated to death," he continued. "Hypothetically."
Well, when you put it that way, it seems perfectly reasonable, and in no way warranting of a police investigation into whether the blogger poses a real threat.
The blogger in question then asked “Why am I getting all this attention? No one batted an eye when those immature Tumblr … people bombarded Dennis Hopeless and Dan Slott with death threats and rotting platypuses (platipi?)! Is it because I am a man and tumblr is made up solely of little girls or people who wish they were and they can say whatever they want?” The blogger then went on a 25 minute long rant about “protected classes” and how nothing can be funny anymore and blah blah blah blah blah, at which time everyone stopped listening.
When he finally came back around to the point, he tried to excuse his actions. "It's satire," said the blogger. "Probably.
Obviously he is a threat to our way of life and must be stopped.
