Dark Horse Makes Last Airbender Comics Available Through Digital Store

Onward into the digital age with Dark Horse comics and Avatar: The Last Airbender!

Source: Press Release

Our friends at Dark Horse Comics have been pioneers in the digital world, offering digital comics through there store at affordable prices, even in the face of blowback and bullying from brick and mortar retailers. One of the great things about digital comics is that they have an opportunity to reach an audience outside the stagnant direct market, but this advantage is negated, in this reporter's opinion, when the comics being offered are superhero fan-wank appealing only to the current comic reading audience.

That's why we love Dark Horse, aside from our own personal enjoyment of their product. And that's why offering something like Avatar: The Last Airbender, which has a built-in fanbase outside of comics, makes the potential for creating new comic readers even greater. The trade collections of these Avatar comics, subtitled The Promise, have hit #1 on the New York Times best seller list in the past.

I don't get to talk about Dark Horse too often because most of my articles are making fun of something, and I don't have a lot to make fun of at Dark Horse. They do things well, and they make decisions that are in the best interest of readers and the industry as a whole. Sometimes, I've just got to take a time out from being a snarky bastard and give credit where it's due.

Here's the press release:
