John Ostrander established Firestorm as the DCU's fire elemental back about twenty years or so ago, but Red Tornado and Swamp Thing make way more sense than Aquaman and J'onn and the Hawks are just a dumb choice as air elementals.

At least there though Black Adam was an ex member of the team when he finally went bad. It made for a more acceptable dynamic because it still felt like the team members (even if the main focus was one of them gone bad) of the JSA were still front and center.
