SDCC 2011: DC Animated Movies for 2012 Revealed

Postby LOLtron » Sat Jul 23, 2011 2:03 pm

SDCC 2011: DC Animated Movies for 2012 RevealedDuring the panel after the premiere of Batman Year One, Bruce Timm talked of the animated movies we will be seeing in 2012.

The next animated DC movie will be called Justice League: Doom, an adaption of the Tower of Babel story by Mark Waid. After this, Superman vs. the Elite (based on Action Comics story by Joe Kelly) will be made. To round out 2012, they'll be releasing a two part adaption of The Dark Knight Returns. Timm stressed he wanted it to follow closely to the comics as possible.

Questions after the panel were asked of possible adaptions of The Killing Joke or Kingdom Come. Timm said they've been discussing the former, but the later was ruled out by him stating it be impossible to adapt.

I don't see anything particularly hard to adapt about KC. In fact, it might be easier than something like Killing Joke, given that they want to keep at least a PG-13 rating.

Is it just me or does anyone want Michael Ironside back to reprise this role? Cause.. damn that still was the perfect voice for that Batman. Conroy's while is THE Batman just not here. Ironside just gets that grit of Miller's words so much better.
