They needed it to make Olivia Newton-John sound interesting in Xanadu.

There was a Middle East with Arabic-type people during Medieval times. There was not an Australia colonized by ex-Brits. Australia would have been populated by Aborigines during that time period. Even if we imagine some preposterous scenario like Belle left her castle for a year to take an internship in Australia studying kangaroo mating habits, she wouldn't have come back with the type of Australian accent she was talking with. This isn't hard to figure out, guys. Even the article that is the subject of this topic mentioned how stupid and out of place her accent was.

It's not that outrageous to believe that there is a region in fairy tale land where people have that accent for some reason.

There are plenty of other flaws in the show. (I don't care, I still enjoy it)
Why does Rumpley have such a lame Lucky Charms voice sometime? They need to retcon that out.

9/10 for this episode. I liked that he turned into a paranoid monster unwilling to love.

Unconvincing lead actors, poor special effects, interesting characters barely addressed for weeks on end...are we sure this is not season 7 of Lost?
And I agree with Space Otter, Emilie de Ravin was miscast.

Once again Fairy Tale land anything can happen. Her father had a british accent. Prince James didnt have an accent but his father did. Its all arbitrary.

There's no extent apologists won't go to to defend this show.

Claire couldn't have bothered to put a British accent?

If one can stomach the shitty CGI, the obvious green-screening and the over the top acting, why would they give a crap about the inconsistent accents used by the various characters?
