I'm of two minds about it. I too would hate if they killed Duke. But let's be honest the character is so screwed up I'd hardly call him Duke. So do we continue dragging a shitty character through sequel after sequel in memory of a version of said character that we never even got?

He might have been a shitty character in the first one, but strong writing and directing can turn a shitty character into a good one (like with any media). Not to mention between 21 Jump Street and Magic Mike, Tatum seems to have really grown as an actor in the last year.

Both are comedies. That's a far cry from an action hero military leader role. Some actors just can never cross genres and I don't think I want to risk him brutalizing another film just to find out.

I wouldn't mind seeing him do it. A lot of actors can do both and I think now that he's starting to get more comfortable with it, he'd probably do a better job this time around.

Sorry but a great writer and director cant make a shitty actor any better. The guy is one of the worst actors I've ever seen.

Have you seen 21 Jump Street? Or the previews for Magic Mike? I'm not going to say he was awesome in GI Joe, because he wasn't, but he was awesome in 21 Jump Street and he looks to be awesome in Magic Mike.
