TV Week in Review (week of 4/29/12)
Last week's Game of Thrones delivered my favorite Season Two episode so far, and tops my hour-long scripted list for the first time this year. Compelling entries from FOX and CBS earned both nets double placement on my hour-long list with FOX also earning the top two spots on my Outstanding Sitcoms list. NBC also claimed two slots on my sitcom list as well as snagging this entry's Top Spot on my Reality Shows list; FYI, Lisa Kudrow's Who Do You Think You Are? was my favorite reality show for the second week in-a-row. If there were any new teen shows on last Sunday (4/29) I missed them, however, the three teen shows I did see last week all made my Favorite Teen Shows list.
Thanks primarily to this Premiere Guide from the good folks at BuddyTV, I learned of these series premiering this week (starting 5/6). Tuesday, May 8th brings the series premiere of United Stats of America (starring Randy and Jason Sklar) to The History Channel, Around the World in 80 Plates debuts on Bravo Wednesday, May 9th, USA's new cop comedy Common Law premieres Friday, May 11th and next Sunday (5/13) catch an all-new season of Food Network Star.
Now onto my preferred picks from last week's primetime TV lineup... * Warning: videos below may contain spoilers and/or mature content not suitable for all ages *
(12). Breakout Kings - "Freakshow; Served Cold" (A&E) (11). GCB - "Adam & Eve's Rib" (ABC) (10). Supernatural - "Reading is Fundamental" (CW) (9). Hart of Dixie - "The Race & the Relationship" (CW) (8). Once Upon a Time - "The Stranger" (ABC)

(Belated) Congrats to Outhouser ThirtyFiveMinutesAgo for winning the last two Trivia Medals for his knowledge of Scorsese's Goodfellas, and, Felicia Day's Geek & Sundry YouTube channel.
Super-Congrats to the Ultimate Trivia Champion avengingtitan, who with 25 correct answers (i.e., medal wins), closes out my column's trivia section in grand fashion and as Grand Champ!
Thanks to all who've played over the last year (plus), you've helped make the Trivia Question of the Week a joy for me to maintain. -------------------------------------------------- * Outstanding Sitcoms *
Despite missing a few shows I'd hoped to catch last week I still exceeded my previous week's total hours viewed by ten, clocking in with a new record-level total of sixty-two. No less than thrity-five hours were spent watching hour-long scripted fare, ten hours were dedicated to screening half-hour scripted series and seventeen hours went towards watching reality shows. The shows I unintentionally missed were new episodes of were House, Car Warriors, The Singing Bee and one of last week's two new episodes of Shannen Says.
A fantastic batch of new film trailers hit the web last week as well as this kick-ass TV preview for Teen Wolf's second season (below).
The next two are for comic book characters who respectively represent the Alpha and Omega of their film franchises. First up Batman via The Dark Knight Rises then (directly below it) the new Spidey reboot featuring Emma Stone and The Lizard, The Amazing Spider-Man.
Thanks a ton for having checked out this (and hopefully my other two columns) over the past (almost) two years. Sadly, I'm discontinuing my Music Video and Webtv columns and will only be publishing this TV WiR column for another couple weeks here at The Outhouse. I've joined the writing staff of an exciting site, launching soon, called Geek Nation where I'll be publishing all my future entertainment columns. Until then, join me next week for one of my final TV columns here (where I learned to write). Have a Great Week & Happy Viewing!
