Remender's moving out and Bunn is moving in!

The Outhouse has learned that Eisner Award nominee Cullen Bunn will be taking over the full-time writer duties on Venom starting with issue #22 in August. Currently, the title is written by both Bunn and Secret Avengers writer Rick Remender.

Bunn stated that his run as the sole writer on the arc will feature Venom truly deciding to be a hero and the fallout he receives from the hero community from the decision. The arc will also feature Daimon Hellstrom.

Great news. I like Bunn a lot, and have been waiting for him to land a big ongoing at Marvel finally.

The Venom book is one of the biggest surprises at Marvel in years.. was definitely not expecting it to be as good as it has been under Remender.

I ... am not familiar with Bunn. So I can't comment.

Venom was pretty much the only Remender book I wasn't reading (not my thing) ...

I knew this was coming via him avoiding the question at C2E2, I'm curious to see were Rememder ends up next. He's still Secret Avenger writer and thus still gets to write Venom.

Look up the Sixth Gun, it is a wonderful series from Oni that he does.

I like Bunn and just read and enjoyed the first Venom trade so this is good news. Wolverine, Venom- Bunn seems to be hitting the "super popular in the early 90s" crowd pretty heavy. Just needs Ghost Rider to complete the set...

I think Remender ending up on one of Marvel's top tier titles is pretty easy to see from all their reshuffling, but it's hard to figure out what- New Avengers would be a good fit, but he's already on Secret. He'd be good on FF, but his creative output seems darker than Marvel's first family. Maybe Iron Man if Fraction is moving over to Avengers or FF?

I'm sad that Remender is leaving, he somehow managed to make a Venom book actually good.

But the 2 issues that Bunn has co-written so far have been good, so hopefully the quality won't drop. And of course, Remender will still be writing the character in Secret Avengers.
