Disney invites creepy, aging comic book geeks to play online games with young children.
Disney, what are you thinking?! Club Penguin is touted by Disney as a fun and safe environment for children to interact online. The service allows kids to create Penguin characters in a virtual world and interact and play games and stuff. Safety is one of the prime directives of the service, providing a place where parents can be sure that their children are interacting with other children, and not, you know, sexual predators. So we are wondering if Disney has really thought this through, as comic book fandom is nothing if not a breeding ground for sexual predators. I mean, have you seen some of the threads on this very forum, where grown men regularly oogle drawings of cartoon teenagers? Couple that with the fact that comic book fans will engage in any activity, no matter how inappropriate, if you slap some superhero branding on it. Yeah, this isn't going to end well.
The Marvel superhero takeover of Club Penguin starts June 14th.
