This week's comics:

Transformers Unicron #3, 3/5
The story was ok, readable, but nothing more. However, the art was cluttered, both the inking and colouring made it worse.

Warhammer 40,000 Deathwatch #3, 3.4/5
A perfectly ok issue, the action stuff was done well, but again nothing in the story that stood out. The art was good though.

Sandman Universe #1, 4.5/5
This was really a pleasant surprise. I think the Dreaming story with Dora looked the most promising, but the Max Fiumara's art on Lucifer might be draw as well. The story in The House of Whispers looks like it will explore Voodoo stuff which I know nothing about, but again looks very interesting. The weakest story was the Tim Hunter part, but again I quite enjoyed it. This book served it's purpose to get me to check out the new books, I was very impressed.

Transformers Lost Light #22, 4.9/5
So after wrapping up dangling plot points in the previous arc James Roberts is now giving us and ending and clearly he had a plan all along. A really good plan. I did not see that coming at all, he basically pulled a Battlestar Galactica moment. I think this book is going to go out strong, this issue was almost perfect.

I liked it too. This issue made me want to know exactly what the story behind Dora is. It also made me want to read House of Whispers.

I reread it today. It still feels a bit like an unnecessary ashcan issue, but leaving that aside it gives me some hope for the line. Spurrier clearly "gets" Lucien, Matthew and the rest of the dreaming. The house of whispers looks to have an interesting new cast. With Cain and Abel reacting too. Lucifer returning to a darker fight against fate and symbols can only be a good thing but I'll reserve judgement because it's not gaiman or Carey. The art reminds me of Leonardo Manco or Jae Lee. The only one I'm really worried about is Books. It seems to be the only one that's rebooting from the original. Is this the new 52 tim? The original deaged? An new version entirely?

I picked up a copy of Doctor Who: The Moonbase at a book sale, so my afternoon is set. Also a DVD set of Lateline, which I can't remember. Anyone remember if it was any good?

Yeah, I remain unsure of Books of Magic too and for the very reasons you stated.

It's truly amazing what a hearty facial glazing can do to restore that natural glow and make you feel like a new man.
