From the creators of the acclaimed TREES graphic novels, which are currently being adapted for television, comes something completely different. A professional pathfinder, his only ally a disaffected young murderess, breaks out of a torture cell in pursuit of his worst extraction scenario ever: escaping on foot across a sprawling and secret off-world colony established a hundred years ago and filled with generations of lunatics. WARREN ELLIS & JASON HOWARD ignite a high-speed new action serial.

Ze rules:

Post your review in the forum thread or in the comments section here on the front page.

Review as often or as little as you like. Once you've posted 5 reviews, you will be awarded 1 pick. You can post 5 reviews, right? That's a totally achievable goal and with day and date digital releases becoming the standard, it shouldn't matter if your shop ordered enough copies of this weeks comic or not.

When multiple Review Groupers have posted 5 (or more) qualifying reviews, they will be awarded their pick in the order that they qualified. What constitutes a qualifying review? Any review posted (with a score on a scale from 0-10, that's right 0!) within 1 calendar month of the thread going live. Reviews are to be at least 5 sentences long. It shows that a) you have at least read this week's pick and b) you have some unique insight into the comic.

Reviews posted while waiting in line for your pick will be applied to your next pick.

I'll be keeping track of everyone's progress with the newly christened Spreadsheet of Fantastic (RIP, Spreadsheet of Doom) and reporting the results in the Current Members list in the weekly OP. When it's your turn to make a pick, I will PM you. If you do not respond to me by Midnight EST the following Sunday, you will lose your pick and I will start a poll to determine that week's selection.

Any week in which we do not have a Review Grouper with 5 qualifying picks, we will determine the week's comic via poll.

If it's your week to pick, remember to keep it at $3.99 or under.

The new one from the team behind Trees is something a bit different. Where the hard sci-fi trappings of Trees frames a thoughtful character piece, this is a fun action romp hanging on an interesting twist on steampunk. Our hero(?) Is a charming but dangerous spy from earth in a lost interplanetary colony that really doesnt want to be found. Twist is, its 2018 and the colony is 100 years old.... and massive. On escaping from custody and teaming up with a "murderous" local guide, we start a run through a world where tech has developed independantly since 1920. Warren Ellis is always a must read for me and he doesnt let me down here. 8.5/10

Haven't heard a response on next week's pick. By default, I'm choosing Dick Tracy: Dead or Alive #1.

This issue starts of with an interrogation. In this interrogation our hero, Mike Blackburn, admits right away that he'll answer whatever question his interrogator asks him. Mike than jokes with the man he's in the room with in a light hearted scene that sets the tone for the rest of the issue. The overall story is the same way. It's a strange mix of light hearted fun in a story that's pretty dark and bleak when you think about what it's actually all about. I have to say that I enjoyed it. That combination is a tough one to pull of. The creative team manages it though, while making the whole thing look easy.
