for ~$11 you get five of the most bad ass comics I have read since the "twist" in the early Invincible TBS!

First of all, I like Mark Waid. I liked his Legion of Super Heroes, his X books, hell, I don't know of a Waid book I dislike, so when I went to the LCS today (hoping they had my green lantern shirt in..they didn't) and saw an affordable trade and a 99 cent book, well the Jew in me said "Oy! Get these!" and in now way was I disappointed.

I don't know if this makes it to my pull or I wait for trade, but read this book.

I like X-Books and continuity and shared universes, but every time I see people bitching that super hero books are stuck in a loop, that they are stagnant I want to slap them in the head and tell the to actually look for something new. This is 2009's RU's choice for "Something New"

again, $11 will get you 5 issues (and that assumes you get charged full price for trades at your LCS) what the bloody hell do you have to lose....other than I guess $11?

Damn skippy agreed 100%!

Got these last week and read them over the weekend and they were awesome!!! This is one of the best books out there right now and I highly recommend it for everyone!

I only read the first three issues, but I didn't really feel anything was going on to hold my attention. Usually I'm fine with slow storytelling, but I didn't see anything that new or different about this story, so I gave up on it. Does it get that much better in later issues?

I don't agree with the premise that the books need to get "better", but if you are asking if the general format of the stories, and the speed change...no not really.
Id say that 3 issues is a fair shake and if you didn't like it I see nothing in the style of other two issues that would change your mind.

Is the trade small? I like that format for the Cthulhu trades but was hoping this was regular sized.

I've read a few too many 'Evil Superman' stories to really get excited about this.

I do like Waid, I'll check it out once it's finished, but he's never struck me as a go-to-guy for his own creations, his real strength is playing with established guys.
