With $4 comics becoming the norm, the economy being what it is and the growing popularity of mail order services the Review Group recognizes that it's becoming harder and harder to commit to participating each and every week. As long as you can post one review per calendar month you will stay in the member's list. It doesn't matter if you post your review the week of it's release or if you post it later. Going forward, there is no such thing as a "late" review.

The only request I make with the new format is that if you don't plan on posting a review or if you're going to be posting late is that you drop a note in the thread so that I can keep track of who is active and who isn't. The Spreadshee of Doom is thorough, but it can't read your mind.


Comics are to be scored on a scale from 1-10. 1 being suck, 10 being a damn good comic. Beyond that, there's no right or wrong.


If it's your week, you must announce your selection by 5pm EST the day Diamond releases it's shipping list. If you do not announce your pick at that time, I will add a poll to the thread that will remain open until 12pm EST so that the group can make the selection for that week. To ensure that you know it's your week, I will PM you when Midtown's list goes live on Thursdays.

Love, love, loved this book. I worry about how accessible it is for new readers, but it is great for those of us who have been along the run. Revelations every page turn, big status quo shake up, preview of the List was interesting, back up feature was awesome and if you are gonna reprint stuff, Miller is the go to guy.

7.01 for Ultimate Avengers? Lame.

It's pretty fitting that we're doing DD #500, since the first issue of Brubaker's run was also our first ever week's pick.

Here's what I wrote about it on the 17th of February 2006:

Daredevil #82 - The Devil In Cell-Block D - Brubaker, Lark & D'Armata
Story: Excellent, for 3 reasons, firstly, I'm always interested in seeing classic characters in new settings, this is one of the best examples of that, secondly, I am intrigued for who this new Daredevil is, I had assumed it was just Spider-man, but since Foggy had nothing to do with it, I have no idea. Thirdly, it seems realistic, all the talk of 'Gen Pops' (Which sounds like an icecream) and Suborders just enhanced the feel of 'Sh*t! Matt's in deep here'. Now, the ending, Foggy's stabbing, we knew it was coming, but it was still powerful, the use of the age-old corrupt guards was excellent, and the cuts between Matt and Foggy were good. Overall, Brubaker sets his run up well, but I find that it doesn't flow as well as Bendis' run, I miss the dialogue. I'm in for the longhaul.
Art: It's no Maleev. Sure, it's more traditional superheroey, but that's not what I'm looking for in DD, the facial expressions were very scratchy. On the plus side, I liked the fight scenes, very dramatic, and the colouring was the best I've seen from D'Armata.
Best Line: 'Heh Heh Heh...'

I'm waiting for the trade on it, but the PE hardcover (which costs more per issue than the singles) isn't even out yet so I'm guessing it will be at least 6 more months before the actual trade comes out. Stupid Marvel.
