If you would like to join the group it's easy. Just post a review and I'll add you to the member's list. As long as you stay active, eventually it will be your turn to make a pick.

With $4 comics becoming the norm, the economy being what it is and the growing popularity of mail order services the Review Group recognizes that it's becoming harder and harder to commit to participating each and every week. As long as you can post one review per calendar month you will stay in the member's list. It doesn't matter if you post your review the week of it's release or if you post it later. Going forward, there is no such thing as a "late" review.

The only request I make with the new format is that if you don't plan on posting a review or if you're going to be posting late is that you drop a note in the thread so that I can keep track of who is active and who isn't. The Spreadshee of Doom is thorough, but it can't read your mind.

Image
Comics are to be scored on a scale from 1-10. 1 being suck, 10 being a damn good comic. Beyond that, there's no right or wrong.

Image
If it's your week, you must announce your selection by 5pm EST the day Diamond releases it's shipping list. If you do not announce your pick at that time, I will add a poll to the thread that will remain open until 12pm EST so that the group can make the selection for that week. (If you're seriously MIA, I'll probably put the poll up sooner) To ensure that you know it's your week, I will PM you when Midtown's list goes live on Thursdays.

As excited as I am for this and as much as I think Old Man Logan has been pretty much the best Wolverine story I've ever read, I'm going to have to wait for this to come in my Box-O-Comics at the end of the month before I can post my review. :(

Hmmm... wonder what Johns has coming out next week? :-D

Yay! Going to get comics in an hour!

FYI, I just learned that Fantom Comics is opening a shop in Pentagon City in a couple of weeks. This may mean that I no longer have to trek to Georgetown to get my comics, although Big Planet Comics is a cool shop.

I suggest going with Runaways 14 or Incredibles 1.

Johns has Green Lantern #46 out next week.

I'd recommend the Shang-Chi one-shot, Spider-Man: Clone Saga #1, Remender's Thunderbolts issue and Punisher Annual #1,

I was worried that there may be a few of you BOC'ers that may not wanna get this since you would be waiting for it already.

I got it, but...I may have to stop participating in the Review Group. Knowing a bit about the crass decision-making behind-the-scenes of Marvel's price increases, and the dishonesty around "selling" it to the loyal readers, I cannot in good (or bad) conscience hand over $5 to Disney for a 32 page story padded with reprinted cover art ever again. (And YES, Punchy, this sentiment is showing up in more and more professional reviews such as the Comics Bulletin review of this book, where it has also influenced the final score the reviewer gave the book. Some of us spend $$ on comics that we actually earned. You might understand that when you grow up.)

Even calling this Giant-Size is utter bullshit.

I've got to agree. I liked the issue, but it was way overpriced for what it was. That will impact my review.
