Chasing The Matrix: Nightfly's Music Video Week in Review (week of 11/20/11)
Some great music hit the web last week as well as some notable new country cd releases. Last Monday brought both Willie Nelson and Taylor Swift's newly released albums, though Taylor's is a cd/dvd set. Willie's new joint is an album of classic country covers, titled, Remember Me, v.1 (read more about it here). Taylor's new release is a live set titled, Speak Now World Tour - Live (read more about it here). Due to the Dixie Chicks and Adele both, separately, having live dvds hit shelves tomorrow (11/29), there's been a bit of synchronicity regarding their WiR appearances over the last month. This outing they appear together more directly than before (when Adele was represented by The Troubletones) with live songs I present out of competition and before I launch into my list.
Other items from last week I thought I should highlight include a free twenty-one minute video from Kelly Clarkson (up at VEVO) titled, Live From the Troubadour 10/19/11. And a video I couldn't embed here because, in addition to being a music video it's also an interactive video game, called "Say You Like Me" by We The Kings. Watch and play their video-game here.
I apologize for not embedding this week's winning clip by Beyoncé, but it's exclusive to E! and they force autoplay on their embedded videos. While I'm a fan of both Beyoncé & the E! Channel, I just don't post autoplaying clips in my columns. Besides exclusive access through E!, you can also view her new video at her official site.
It begins (in alphabetical order, except for the winners).... * Warning: videos below may contain mature content not suitable for all ages *
"When The Thames Froze" by Smith & Burrows ------------------------------------------------------------------- Make-up Section: none that I know of this outing. ------------------------------------------------------------------- New Holiday Video Release(s): "25 Days of Christmas" by The Band Perry
Readers of my weekly TV column saw that Lady Gaga's, A Very Gaga Thanksgiving, made my list of favorite Reality Shows from last week. Below are four (4) live performances excerpted from that special celebration. "Born This Way (A Very Gaga Thanksgiving)" by Lady Gaga "The Edge of Glory (A Very Gaga Thanksgiving)" by Lady Gaga "Marry The Night (A Very Gaga Thanksgiving)" by Lady Gaga "Yoü And I (A Very Gaga Thanksgiving)" by Lady Gaga
Lastly, though not a video, beautiful songstress Sara Bareilles released a holiday themed single on iTunes last week titled, "Love Is Christmas." Christmas music fans should definitely pick it up. ------------------------------------------------------------------- Bonus Videos: Singer/songwriter Jes Hudak & hip-hop/dubstep DJ-producer Quickie Mart have teamed to form side project, Bang, You're Dead. See the live performance that became the group's genesis below. "Alive" by Bang, You're Dead
Well, those are my choices this go around - hopefully I found at least one or two tunes that interested you. Sorry I didn't find any music-related stickers to share with you here but trust I'll always post the ones I do. Have a Great Week & Keep Your Groove On!
