TV Week in Review 4/8/12 - Touch, Glee, and more!

Postby LOLtron » Mon Apr 16, 2012 6:39 am

Nightfly lists his preferred picks from primetime TV and the world of entertainment.

TV Week in Review  (week of 4/8/12)

In this column Bravo, HBO, FOX and ABC turn in standout performances, delivering shows that earned high rankings on my various lists. Touch has especially impressed me and has managed to occupy my top hour-long drama spot since Spartacus' season finale a few weeks ago. FOX claims three of my hour-long list's top seven spots, HBO took my top two sitcom slots and Bravo earned two of my reality show list's top three slots including its no.1 spot. Nickelodeon's music-themed series How to Rock (starring Cymphonique Miller) tops my Favorite Teen Shows list this edition, its third consecutive week topping that chart. I awarded a tie for my no.2 hour-long list spot this outing.

There's lots to celebrate about the upcoming week of TV, starting tonight (4/16) with three season premieres (Eureka, Lost Girl and Top Gear) and two series premieres (Richard Hammond's Crash Course and Eden's World). Tuesday brings the season finales of Ringer and Raising Hope as well as the debut of Private Practice on its new nite. Wednesday (4/18) heralds the return of ABC's Revenge while Thursday sees Parks and Recreation return (on NBC) along with the series premiere of Kathy on Bravo. Friday (4/20) ushers in the new season of The Ricky Gervais Show and Sunday (4/22) brings Julia Louis-Dreyfus' new sitcom to TV in HBO's Veep. Shows with (Coming Soon) GetGlue stickers presently available appear linked above.

Despite a noticeable number of shows airing repeats last week my overall total hours viewed climbed to fifty and a half hours watched, up from last edition's forty-five. Unfortunately I missed out on two shows I'd hoped to screen for this column: Sand Masters and House. For this entry twenty-seven hours were spent watching hour-long series, fourteen hours were spent screening reality shows and nine and a half hours were devoted to laughing at half-hour sitcoms.

Fans of VH1's sexy primetime drama Single Ladies got the gift of a preview trailer for Season Two (debuting May 28th) last week. Take a look at Stacey Dash's replacement and some of the upcoming season's guest stars in the stylin' new clip (below).

My favorite posters from the few I spotted last week were for Ice-T's upcoming music documentary Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap and a cool ship one-sheet for Ridley Scott's Prometheus. Take a giant sized look at the Prometheus ship here (src: IGN). Prometheus opens in theaters June 8th - check out my favorite trailer for it here. The Art of Rap hits theaters the following week opening June 15th! Find its fresh trailer linked under Ice Love Coco in my Reality Shows section (above).
4-8

Among the movie featurettes released last week my faves included a super-cool Avengers exclusive at IMDB here, a new The Cabin in the Woods preview with Chris Hemsworth introduction here, and a new "Enemies From Another World" featurette from Universal's Battleship (embedded below). The Cabin in the Woods is now in theaters

New glue I found at GetGlue last week, movie-wise, included ones from The Raven (opening 4/27), The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (debuting 5/4) as well as two Joss Whedon related stickers - one for Astonishing X-Men: Dangerous (now on DVD) and one for Hawkeye from The Avengers. Speaking of Joss, don't forget to grab a sticker for The Cabin in the Woods while its window remains open.
Marvel comics delivered new glue for The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes Adventures #1, Avenging Spider-Man #6, The Mighty Thor #12.1, The New Avengers #24 and Wolverine #304.

Thanks again for supporting this column with your ongoing interest and comments. My last two trivia questions have went unanswered so maybe this week will be luckier. Have a Great Week & Happy Viewing!
