Lobell on Superman? Be afraid.

Postby Juan Cena » Mon Apr 30, 2012 6:19 pm

This effectively kill off any support left for DC editorial.

Bleeding Cool heard that the New DCU Zero issues in September, now confirmed by DC artists, may lead to some creative changes in their wake.

Well here’s a big one that may cause controversy in certain quarters.

I understand that Scott Lobdell, the writer of Red Hood And The Outlaws, Teen Titans and Superboy is to add another, more prominent book, to his New DCU repertoire.

Namely the monthly Superman title, currently created by Dan Jurgens and Keith Giffen.

I am hoping for some Starfire/Superman alien-on-alien action fairly shortly…

It honestly can't be any worse than what has been in Superman thus far in the new DCU. Superman books have been some of the worst of the relaunch and I think he is only surviving because it is a Supermanbook. I find the Superman book to be one of the most boring titles published by any company right now and I really don't like much of Morrison's main stream superhero work, so I hate his run on Action Comics.

I actually have been enjoying Superboy, Teen Titans, and Red Hood so Lobdell on Superman would be something to at least get me to check the book out again.

Loving Red Hood, liking Titans, indifferent towards Superboy.

No one has ever gotten me all that interested in a Superman book (not even Morrison could hold me for more than an issue or two) so this changes nothing for me.

And if nothing else, at least he's not walking across America again.

Red Hood has been awesome (serious post)

I really think Action would be received a lot better if it didnt have that random fill in the in the middle of the first arc

I've been enjoying Morrison's run on Action. Jurgens on Superman killed it for me. I'll check out Lobdell's first ish and see if it's worth it.

What makes it great is that I get the feeling (or at least I interpret as such) that Lobdell is intentionally lampooning all the things people give him crap for, and is just going balls out cuckoo insano in that book.

And it makes for an always interesting (if nothing else) read every month.

Perhaps they're trying to find a creative team that will stay on a while without demanding more pay for the good job they're doing.

Agree.

I'd say it cant get any worse but seeing how hard Lobell is raping his current books and their history well its gonna get worse. Really hasnt Superman been fucked over enough?

Yeah I agree. A lot of folks prolly signed off after the Starfire stuff in issue 1.

There's also been some great character moments with Jason with that most cherished memory and his most recent interaction with Tim Drake
