DC Comics has canceled subscriptions to less popular comics like Justice League International and Swamp Thing and plans to send readers issues of Batman and Superman instead.
Tabloid reporter and internet hooligan
Rich Johnston over at Bleeding Cool reported today that subscribers to DC Comics'
Justice League International,
Aquaman,
Justice League Dark, and
Swamp Thing have recieved letters from DC informing them that subscription service for these comics has been terminated, and they will be receiving replacement comics of DC's choosing for the remainder of their paid subscriptions, starting in July. Nevermind that there are still issues of these comics to be published. DC believes that readers of
Justice League Dark can make do with
Batman: The Dark Knight instead, based presumably on the logic that both titles feature the word "dark" in the title. "If they want the title they paid for already, they can go to the damn comic shop themselves and buy it again, thank you very much," is what we assume VP of Operations Jeff Boison would have told us if we could reach him for comment.
No reason was given for the service cancellation, but we can all safely assume the reason is nefarious. The Outhouse attempted to reach DC Head Honcho Dan Didio for comment, but all he would tell us was, "A maannnnn. Yessss! I was onccccce a maannnnnn!"
