Scottish Parliament to Rule on X-Men Gay Wedding?

It must be nice to live in a place where your legislature has nothing better to do than make laws about fictional universes.

Nine members of the Scottish Parliament are supporting a new bill introduced today, which states, "That the Parliament welcomes the news that the Marvel comic, X-Men, will feature its first same-sex marriage, which will feature Northstar, believed to be the first openly gay comic superhero; understands that, in 1992, Marvel was the first comic publisher to reveal a gay superhero; notes that Northstar is not the first gay character to have had a same-sex marriage in the comic book world, and agrees that same-sex marriage should not be restricted to the world of literature and fantasy." Opponents of the bill are arguing that the bill is meant to distract voters from real issues, such as unicorn hunting rights, the legalization of fairy dust for medicinal use, and the war with the planet Jupiter.

The bill is expected to not have any effect whatsoever, since comic books are not real.

In the Marvel Universe, mutants are looked down on more than gays, yet muties have been able to get married all along.

Why is this such a big deal and when does Rev. Phelps and his Church of Perpetual Loonies show up to protest this wedding?

But Saturn is like that kid in high school whose family had money, and the kid was insecure about it, so they spent all their time trying to fit in? Yeah, they can be a douche, but they are the first family in the neighborhood to have an Xbox....
