The premiere web portal of the nineties aims for a big comeback with motion comics.
When this reporter thinks of motion comics, two names immediately spring to mind: Barry Sonnenfeld and Guy Ritchie. Okay, I'm lying, those are not the names. In fact, there are no names because nobody cares about motion comics. But that won't stop Yahoo from launching a new Motion Comics program that we suppose the company hopes will help it to return to its former levels of glory.
Unfortunately, like Yahoo, motion comics' peak is in the past. In the case of motion comics, that peak came in 2009 when Tom Stechschulte, the audiobook actor who played all the characters in the
Watchmen motion comic, acted out the rape scene between the Comedian and the original Silk Spectre to unintentionally hilarious results. This moment will never be surpassed, and there's no point in even trying.
In any case, Yahoo will be launching its motion comics intiative soon in partnership with liquid comics, and it will start with
Dinosaurs vs. Aliens by Sonnenfeld and
The Gameskeeper by Ritchie.
The Gameskeeper is an adaptation of the comic book by the same name which was created by Ritchie and written by Andy Diggle.
Dinosaurs vs. Aliens is an allegorical tale that connects the exploitation of the lands and people of post-apartheid South Africa with the exploitation of human emotion in personal realtionships. No wait, that's the novel
Disgrace by nobel prize winner J.M. Coatzee.
Dinosaurs vs. Aliens is about dinosaurs fighting freaking aliens.
Best of luck to you, Yahoo.
