Golf - Who Here Likes It?

Postby BlueStreak » Thu Jun 21, 2012 10:37 am

So I've recently begun to golf a lot more (partially to fit in around work and partially because it's a lot of fun). Even cut my comics budget in half to afford more golf outings. I'm pretty terrible about it, but I've been steadily shaving strokes off my game since I really started playing this spring.

Anyone else play?

So you're more efficient in your stroking? :smt005

I played non-miniature golf once. Work outing. It was one of the most awkward things I ever did. I could actually drive pretty good, but I couldn't putt to save my life.

I haven't played in years, but I used to love it. Not good at it, but that was usually irrelevant. My greatest talent in golf was getting other people addicted that swore they'd never play.

My Dad and my brother took me golfing at their country club once about twelve years ago. I spent most of the time walking around noting the lack of diversity and commenting on all the rich white folks who probably got where they were by stepping on the backs of middle class people. I was told several times to shut up.

It wasn't until I started singing "I'm All Right" really loud at the tenth hole (where two of our finest (sarcastic) Judges were playing, that I was informed by my father that I would not be asked back. I replied with a "thank God".

Never went to another golf course...

Oh and I suck at it too.

That whole story is fiction, isn't it? You stayed in the clubhouse all day, admiring the golfer's "clubs"...

I can tolerate a 9 hole captain and crew game about once every 2 years. Otherwise, it's just a frustrating waste of time for me.

 No, that's 100% true. That placed rubbed me the wrong way and the people there just irritated the piss out of me. :|

He's on his final hole. He's about 455 yards away, he's gonna hit about a 2 iron I think. Cinderella story. Outta nowhere. A former greenskeeper, now, about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a mirac... It's in the hole! It's in the hole! It's in the hole!

THat's exactly what I was thinking at the time but I was actually projecting Rodney Dangerfield at the time. Of course it wasn't helping that my dad and brother were acting like stuffed shirts too. I was embarrassed to claim them. (and the feeling was probably mutual)

Used to play miniature golf after spending the day at the horse races in Ruidoso when I was a kid. I was better at picking winners at the races than I was a golfer.

My sister, on the other hand, belongs to 2 women's golf leagues. She has plenty of time for that since retirement. :smt102

I enjoy golf, but only go a few times a year. I'm not very good, but I always have a good time.

I also enjoy watching golf.
