Left field rumor alert!

Here's a rumor we certainly weren't expecting. ComingSoon.net is reporting that Disney is developing a Big Hero 6 animated movie based off of the Marvel franchise. Sourcing multiple blogs that are apparantly legit sources for Disney rumors, ComingSoon.net claims that the movie has been storyboarded and is due to be released in either 2014 or 2015. Don Hall, who previously directed Winnie the Pooh, will direct and allegedly pitched the movie directly to John Lasseter, the Chief Creative Officer at Disney.

Chances are that the Silver Samurai and Sunfire, two mutant characters attached to Fox-owned X-Men franchise, will not be appearing in the film. However, considering there's rumors that Spider-Man will be appearing in Avengers 2, there's really no telling what could happen.

ok, I just posted that in the other article to state the chances it could be this film and not something live action.

Disney Animation teams up with Marvel for 'Big Hero 6' -- BREAKING

Disney reps confirmed to EW that the film is in the early stages of development, though they declined to specify which filmmakers are involved.

That's what I was thinking. A little odd that Marvel and Disney would go with a Japanese team of heroes over all the other properties they have.

I will be interested to see this develop.
