Twilight Fan Killed in Line to SDCC

Postby LOLtron » Tue Jul 10, 2012 3:28 pm

Twilight Fan Killed in Line to SDCCA fan was struck by a car today while trying to maintain her spot in line.

Tragedy has marred the beginning of SDCC as a fan was killed when she stumbled into traffic this morning.

Fifty-three year old Giselle G. was struck by a Subaru when she tripped and fell in front of it while rushing to maintain her spot in line.  Her and other Twilight fans were being moved to tents in order to keep the building clear.  The woman, who did not have right of way, was struck by the car and was pronounced dead after paramedics rushed her to the hospital.

This is not the first time someone has been injured or killed at SDCC.  Last year, a fan suffered minor wounds after being stabbed by another attendee during a dispute over seating at a panel.

Not that it matters with the shitty jokes, but it wasn't for the movie, it was a line for the panel about the movie at SDCC

Condolences to her family and friends.

I'm getting worried about the scale of comic con. It went without incident for a couple decades and now when they broaden the market things like this start happening. Glad I'm not there.

I think people are showing surprising restraint here.

Obviously, you're some skinny, single nerd living on the East Coast who probably derives value in life from wrestling matches, hoping that Wolverine gets to sleep with teenagers and engaging in casual drug use. You're literally the worst thing to happen to comics since Stan Lee.

Because the material just writes itself. Its ducks in a barrel. And like you said, someone died so we know we just can't do it.

But I loved in the original article about the incident last year being minor injuries to that guy.

Being stabbed in the eye with a pencil is minor injuries?

Next to death yeah that was minor though it is not something he can fully look away from.
