Article snarks

Postby Chesscub » Wed Jul 11, 2012 4:44 pm

It's really starting to get to the point where the LOLtron "articles" are a bit too much. I'd like to read articles for news with a hint of snark. At this point, the snark has become the point and not the news.

Can we please tone it down a little bit?

I disagree. I think some of them are hilarious. But all of them differentiate us from Newsarama and CBR and all those other places which are dry and boring.

I feel bad that Jude is making you read them.

When the articles are 2-3 sentences of fact and 2-4 paragraphs of heroin induced blather, it makes getting news difficult.

The snark seems to be the point now and not the news with some commentary.

I blame this backlash on the fact that too few of you have seen A Clockwork Orange.

Sorry I'm dealing with shit and haven't been there to help Jude tone down. I will get back on it.

I think the snarkiness is a bit much too, but what's worse is Jude forcing me to read them :smt013

A man of Jude's...magnitude does everything big. So the snark is big time and its probably not going to get any better.

Can't we combine this with the other "I hate the articles that no one makes me read and help the site grow" threads?

My biggest concern is that someone at DC or Marvel (or the higher-ups of their corporate ubermeisters) will get their boxers in a bunch over something ThanosCopter wrote and decide to blacklist the OH from access to creators or previews of comic and stuff like that.

It also might drive potential advertisers (via PW or those who actually might want advertise here on their own) away as well.

I know I can get snarky over at SWRT, but I try not to do things like use fake quotes and stuff like that when I'm doing news stories.

I suspect we passed that point a long time ago. Even if we haven't the question would be to go ahead and ignore them or kiss their asses and push their crap like Wizard and several others have and still do.

We'll just copy shit from CBR like we normally do. I mean like we used to do.

The response from publishers that really pay attention to us has been positive. Marvel and DC don't really pay attention to us, but they haven't gotten mad either. I think they understand sarcasm, and would probably laugh. Marc Silvestri was retweeting my article calling him a socialist the other day. The industry gets it.

Obviously, you're some skinny, single nerd living on the East Coast who probably derives value in life from wrestling matches, hoping that Wolverine gets to sleep with teenagers and engaging in casual drug use. You're literally the worst thing to happen to comics since Stan Lee.

You mean people in comics can take a joke?

BUT COMICS ARE SERIOUS! SO SERIOUS THAT CYCLOPS IS A FASCIST AND THE NEW 52 RAPED MY CHILDHOOD TWICE.
