Marvel Confirms It Hasn't Forgotten about New Nova

Marvel released a new Marvel Now teaser, showing off the new Nova.

Upsetting thousands of fans, Marvel released a new Marvel Now teaser, this time showcasing new Nova, Sam Alexander.  Alexander's appearance in the Marvel Universe has been a rather unpleasant one, and the character has been decried by many fans, despite the fact that we know next to nothing about him.  Many fans were hoping that the character's absence over the last few months was a sign that Marvel editorial had changed their mind and had decided to bring back Richard Rider, the original Nova, instead.

However, judging from his stern look, Black Nick Fury, or Blurry for short, makes it clear that Sam Alexander is the Nova fans will be reading about for the next six months.  Blurry, the avatar for Marvel editorial, doesn't care about your preferences or your feelings or even your well-being.  Instead, he's throwing files at you, and you're going to have to suck it up and deal with it.

Check out the teaser below and see what you think.  We'd attach the press release text too, but Blurry doesn't have time to write up any fancy sentences.  Blurry's too busy throwing files at you to type up press releases.

Is Blurry Samoan? He looks like he might need some breast reduction surgery.

You're literally the worst thing to happen to comics since Stan Lee.

He's just thinking of those damn whiteys that are in the SHIELD cafeteria drinking up all the purple drink on him while he's hard at work, unlike their lazy asses. They are also eating up all the good pizza too.

That picture of nuNova is basically the cover for Nova #4 with Sam Alexander instead of Richard Rider. That being said, just like the nuGreen Lantern being introduced, I simply have no interest in this character.

Sorry but Avengers Assemble already proved that Marvel currently has no interest in respecting their own continuity when it comes to their cosmic line, so I have no faith that Loeb will be able to provide a reasonable explanation for how Sam Alexander obtained his powers or why Richard Rider isn't around.

Sam Alexander, the only new character that is white... and we still hate him.

hasn't it been said that AA #6 will explain Starlord and all that?

oh, sorry, forgot I was on the internet - keep going with your reactionary responses

don't forget, they retroactively made Dr. Strange a bad guy on the last page of A(n) (New) Avengers issue that one time

Hey they are going to explain Star Lord? That's great, I honestly have not heard that they were going to make any attempt to do that. I suppose that any explanation for the return of Star Lord can be applied to Thanos. That just leaves us needing an explanation for how Drax is alive and how Sam Alexander has access to the Nova Force.

My reactionary responses tend to serve me pretty well. If I liked everything, then chances are I would spend more of my money. If by some chance, I hear that this nuNova leads somewhere interesting, perhaps I will rethink my stance and give it a chance but as it stands now, my admittingly preemptive negative reaction helps me avoid purchasing something that I currently know doesn't sound appealing to me.

I can't comment on this because I have no idea what you are talking about as I have generally avoided a majority of the past several years of Avengers stories. I admit, the only reason I decided to purchase Avengers Assemble in the first place was because I heard about the return of Thanos andrhe Guardians of the Galaxy. Needless to say, I have not liked the way Bendis writes and/or uses these characters.

Drax has been resurrected before, so I'm not all that concerned
off the top of my head, as Nova was getting trapped he released the Nova Force back into our universe / World Mind held some back / whatever it was that allowed Nova to regain his powers back in New Warriors #1(ish)

not all mysteries need to be solved right away, nor are things written by people you don't like automatically retcons or continuity genocide

thats not reactionary - reactionary is "Oh noes, there's a comic out there that seems to contradict everything I hold dear and it hasn't been explained in three issues! Marvel doesn't care about continuity!"

I really wished that Marvel had given us more insight into Marcus Johnson the army ranger as a character and not as Ultimate Fury Palette Swap For My Long Lost Father That No One Gives A Shit About instead. Also, I hope to god they don't make the mistake of giving the new Nova his own series as that will end in cancellation like the new female Ghost Rider.

You can also throw in the fact that the Supernova, Garthan Saal "rescued" the temporary Nova Prime, Malik Tarcel during the War of Kings event, so it is theoretically possible that Sam Alexander is powered by their rogue faction of the Nova Corps. It certainly would explain the darker color scheme for Sam's uniform. However, that being said, I neglected to mention just how much I HATE Sam Alexander's uniform. No amount of time or storytelling is going to change that. It's just plain ugly.

True. However, we have known about this new Nova for months now and we know as much about him now as we did when he was introduced. The longer it goes without an explanation, the less I care to hear it when they finally get around to telling it. As far as the Avenger Assemble/Guardians of the Galaxy situation is concerned...I would have more patience and faith if it wasn't Bendis. So, you have a point there...but he really hasn't ever written anything that makes me believe he can handle cosmic characters, so I can only base my opinion off of what I gave read so far and so far, I don't like it.

Because they don't!!!!

Ahem...fair enough.
