The Electric Bugaloo: The Internet

Postby Keb » Mon Aug 18, 2008 4:05 pm

Hey people, Kieran aka Kid Impulse wrote an article for the front page. It was supposed to be the beginning of a regular column but unfortunately he doesn't have the time, so his first piece is an Electric Bugaloo piece. You can read his article about the internet here.

Enjoy!

The Electric Bugaloo is where we put the random one-time submissions for those who don't have regular columns. Anyone can submit. PM me for details.

As I told Kieran, I loved the Watchmen metaphor (personally, I thought it was fitting).

I didn't even think of it in terms of Watchmen being the 'hot book' right now, it was just the greatest twist I could think of and how much it'd suck to be ruined

Interesting article. I'd probably burst if there weren't comic forums for me to frequent.

Interesting piece.

Personally I love the Internet bitching. Part of what made CW so memorable for me was all these fans screaming bloody murder that so-and-so wasn't in character; or that Clor was a horrible idea; or that Cap would never surrender, under any circumstances, period.

How often do you see so much passion over a story? Not too often. So I think the comic book sites and message boards have really enhanced the reading experience, at least for us hard-core fans. We have an outlet to vent and praise, finally!

It's also neat when you see creators jump into the mix and argue with fans. For a while on the Rama, Dan Slott had this ongoing debate with one of the most passionate detractors of BND. It was fun reading. It's also interesting to see creators like Erik Larsen comment on Marvel or DC creative decisions.
