The journey, any journey, has always been an interesting starting point for stories. Literary critic Todorov points out that the journey, especially the journey of a young man, is a paramount paradigm in classic literature.
"Amor Crudo" obeys Todorov's principle. It entails the journey of a boy that has not yet occurred but that somehow stirs his life and the life of his best friend. In this short film directors Chappa and Deus prove that time lengths should never be a constraint but rather a challenge; a challenge they overcome by creating, in only a few minutes, a rich and appealing narrative universe that conveys deep and true emotions.

Different authors such as Plato or Seneca would probably agree on one thing. Friendship is the most pure human relationship as it does not seek benefits or rewards. In that sense, friendship could be the ideal love, and that is the feeling Chappa and Deus are able to transmit to the viewers in this story about journeys and very heartfelt goodbyes.
Touching, intense and honest, "Amor Crudo" is a very thorough exploration of teenage awkwardness, innocence and true friendship.

Aunque inicialmente había pensado quedarme en casa, el jueves en la noche decidí asistir a la inauguración de la nueva muestra de Fernando Gutiérrez / Huanchaco, titulada “Horas de lucha, el futuro ha comenzado”. Llegué a la Galería Lucía de la Puente y quedé fascinado por los cuadros. El hiperrealismo, el perfeccionismo visual y una estética única e intransferible, son sólo algunos de los elementos que le dan cohesión a una obra de por sí múltiple y polifónica. Una obra que juega a subvertir los valores tradicionales como el criollismo, que busca parodiar la figura del superhéroe y que, al mismo tiempo, escarba profundamente en los diversos estratos sociales de nuestra Lima de hoy. El resultado son un conjunto de cuadros exquisitamente pintados, que nos tocan de un modo u otro, ayudándonos a vislumbrar ese elemento ubicuo que podríamos denominar como “limeñismo postmoderno”.

Seguramente el lunes me daré una vuelta por la galería para ver todos los cuadros con calma, y es que el día de la inauguración la sala estaba repleta de gente. Considero que esta es una de las mejores muestras que ha habido en el año. Realmente vale la pena visitar la galería y contemplar estas “Horas de lucha”. En el transcurso de la noche me encontré con José Medina, Julio Garay, Marcos Palacios, Paola Tejada, Irene Tomatis, Dare Dovidjenko, Gabriel Lama, José Arturo Lugón y Adriana Bustamante. Aproveché que estaba a pocos metros de Dédalo para ir a la presentación de la revista DAD, iniciativa del artista Pablo Patrucco. Saludé a María Elena Fernández y a Eduardo Lores, a Isabelle Decenciere y a Lothar Busse, y me encontré con mi gran amigo Rafael Velázquez. Me quedé conversando un rato con él, y también con Ximena Basadre, una de mis pocas amigas de la facultad de literatura de la PUCP. Justo en ese momento llegó Érika Beleván con las cámaras de Polizontes y me animé a ser entrevistado por ella, así que saldré algunos segundos en el capítulo de Polizontes que se emitirá en un par de semanas.
Conversé brevemente con Jorge Cabieses (en la revista DAD había un artículo sobre él) y también me quedé hablando con Rhony Alhalel e Ilse Rehder. Siempre que converso con Rhony me entero de algo nuevo, ahora, por ejemplo, me comentó que cuando estudiaba en Japón se dedicaba a dar clases de marinera para ganarse algunos yenes extras; sin duda, la marinera, algo tan común para nosotros, era algo absolutamente exótico para los orientales. Fue una noche muy divertida, aunque a mí se me fue ligeramente la mano con tanto vino, cava y whisky. Creo que no me excedía así desde hacía unos seis o siete meses.
