From the "things you knew were going to happen department" comes word that Texas A&M athletic director Eric Hyman sat down and had a little chat with Aggie starting quarterback Johnny Manziel's parents. The subject of the conversation: How Johnny needs to learn how to handle his new fame and responsibility as a Heisman Trophy-winner.
Heyman told the Manziels that their son is no longer a freshman, and he's no longer a sophomore, junior or senior,” Hyman said Sunday. “He is a 'Heisman.'”
“It's (about) education, and we've got to help the family and Johnny with the transition into being a Heisman award winner,” Hyman said. “There are things you have to learn, and we have to help him with that.”
Obviously after Manziel's latest forays into controversy with a trip to a casino and pictures of him partying after the Cotton Bowl, Texas A&M wants to make sure that Manziel checks himself before he wrecks himself (to paraphrase Ice Cube). This is all pretty much new territory for all parties concerned (Texas A&M's last Heisman winner, John David Crow, was back in 1957). With the force of nature that is Johnny Football, it's not going to be an easy experience for them either.
