Texas QB David Ash out for TCU due to lingering effects of a head injury.

Texas has announced that quarterback David Ash will sit out Saturday's road game against TCU due to what's being described as "lingering effects of a head injury." Ash suffered a concussion during the Longhorns' Sept. 7 loss to BYU. His only game since the injury was on Sept. 21 against Kansas State, which he was unable to finish.

The amount of time Ash has missed on the field has brought suggestions from CBS Sports' Tom Fornelli that it may be wiser for Texas to shut Ash down for the remainder of the season.

Longhorn QB Case McCoy will continue to start for Texas in Ash's absence.
