Penn State eying Vanderbilt's James Franklin as potential replacement for Bill O'Brien?

Bill O'Brien hasn't officially bolted Penn State for the Houston Texans just yet. That apparently isn't stopping the school from shopping for his replacement as the Nittany Lions' head coach. The Harrisburg Patriot-News' David Jones is reporting that the school is already looking at Vanderbilt head coach James Franklin as the top candidate to be O'Brien's successor if O'Brien does decide to leave Happy Valley for the Texans.
Franklin has led Vanderbilt to bowl game appearances in each of his first two seasons as the school's head coach, and is preparing for the Commodores' match-up against the University of Houston in the BBVA Compass Bowl on Saturday.
The University of Texas is also reportedly interested in Franklin to be the successor to the recently departed Mack Brown. This possibly could lead to a three-way bidding war for Franklin's services between Texas, Penn St., and an probably outgunned Vanderbilt.
