Another high-profile Alabama junior is leaving for the NFL. Junior safety Ha-Ha Clinton Dix announced on Thursday his plans to forgo his senior season in Tuscaloosa and to enter the 2014 NFL Draft.
"I bought into the system since I was in high school," Clinton-Dix said Thursday, shortly after he and three of his teammates announced their intentions to enter the NFL Draft. "Coach Saban told me if I came here and worked hard, I would be a great player and I could be three-and-done and conquer my dreams. I felt like I've done that. He told me I did. He said I worked hard.
"He also told me that if I stayed I could graduate and win all type of awards. It had its ups and downs in my decision-making but I think I made the right decision."
Dix was evaluated by the NFL Draft Board as being "first round material." ESPN NFL Draft expert Todd McShay has him ranked as the top safety in the Draft, as well as the 16th-best player eligible this year. Sports Illustrated's Chris Burke projects him being the 14th pick in the NFL Draft, going to the Chicago Bears.
