Score another victory for Under Armor in the battle for college sports uniform supremacy. The Maryland-based sports apparel manufacturer has reportedly inked a deal with Notre Dame to become the school's new provider of athletic apparel. The company will replace adidas, which has supplied Notre Dame's unis since 1997.
"We have been very happy with adidas," Swarbrick told ESPN.com's Matt Fortuna at the time. "But it is just good business to use the expiration of a contract to review all options."
Winning the Notre Dame contract is a big feather in Under Armour's cap. The new partnership with the Fighting Irish will be interesting to watch, but I doubt the school will be involved in any of the WTF unis like Maryland's infamous state flag unis or the Northwestern "Wounded Warrior" unis that sparked controversy and criticism for stars-and-stripes inspired design.
On the other hand, ND and adidas have irked traditionalists with the alternate unis for the "Shamrock Series" neutral site games. That means anything is possible.
