Condolences to the friends and family of Alabama swimming and diving team member John Servati, who was killed during the storms that hit the Tuscaloosa area on Monday night. He died while attempting to hold up a retaining wall so his girlfriend could get to safety. The wall collapsed on him before he could get to safety himself.
University of Alabama athletic director Jay Jacobs released the following statement on Twitter.
Servati was a native of Tupelo, Ms., and was a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll.
