Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn discusses losing the Arkansas Class AA state high football championship while he was head coach of Hughes High School in 1994, which he says still haunts him. Hughes honored Malzahn on Monday by renaming its football field after him. (al.com)

Auburn quarterback Nick Marshall is listed on NFL.com's list of the fourteen "Most freakish athletes in college football" at no. 3. Connor Tapp gives some guide lines on how to properly abbreviate "South Carolina" within a college sports context, with an emphasis on how not to get it confused with that "other" USC.  "SC" is apparently preferred, "SCAR" is listed as "Fine, but weird," but "USC, jr." is absolutely verboten.
