Former Auburn tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen was killed in a automobile accident early Sunday morning. He was 23 years old.

Lutzenkirchen played for Auburn from 2009 to 2012.  He was a member of the undefeated 2010 Auburn team that went on to win the SEC and BCS titles.

The Opelika-Auburn News paid tribute to Lutzenkirchen on the front page of its sports section with a photo taken during the Tiger's 2010 victory over Georgia.

Georgia baseball player Joseph Ian Davis also died in the accident.

Condolences go out to the family and friends of Philip Lutzenkirchen.
