Irrational Fanboy Fact: Detective Comics is DC’s Flagship Book
Irrational Fanboy Proof: DC is named for Detective Comics
Source: Now It’s Rob Liefeld Vs Scott Snyder – “Get Over Yourself You Pretentious Prick”
This is the first (official) part of a potentially infinite number of articles where The Outhouse explores the assumptions of irrational fanboys and how actual facts affect their world views. In this installment we explore The Outhouse meme of “Detective Comics Is DC’s – and therefore Bat-books’ – flagship.
Irrational Fanboy Fact: Detective Comics is DC’s Flagship Book
Irrational Fanboy Proof: DC is named for Detective Comics
Consequences of Irrational Fanboy Fact: Batwoman was DC’s flagship character for ~6 months. The higher selling higher profile book Batman is second to Detective Comics in importance. High profile writers such as Grant Morrison, Judd Winick, and Scott Snyder have been regulated to the second tier Bat-book. Grant Morrison was never the architect of the Bat-verse.

Background: If you’ve been living under the internet equivalent of a rock the past week you may have missed Rob Liefeld's most recent twitter hack. Last week in a show of professional respect, Rob Liefeld announced his intention to leave DC for good (again) via his twitter feed. Hours later some disrespectful ne’er-do-well broke into his twitter feed and proceeded to act like a douche to all that even thought about criticizing the master of feet, going so far as to ban his greatest fan, Jude Terror, from seeing any Liefeld tweets.
All of that has been and will be covered by The Outhouse Staff.
Luckily, for this article, iLiefeld’s hacker provided Bleeding Cool with a screenshot of all the private messages sent to and from Batman writer, Scott Snyder. In this exchange Snyder confirms Irration Fanboy's worst fear; namely that Detective Comics is NOT the primary Bat-book. Going against all logic, reason, morality, and common decency DC editorial calls Batman “the lead” and its writer the “head Batman writer.”
The fact that Snyder is considered the head Bat-writer was later confirmed by admitted female comic book writer, Gail Simone, on her twitter feed:
@GailSimone: I've worked in the bat-offices for 6 years. We've always had a head bat writer. Right now, that's @Ssnyder1835
What this means to The Irrational Fanboy is that Batwoman was never the flagship character of DC let alone the Bat-books. I know I can speak for everyone when I say that this is shocking news that has to potential to break the internet in half. All we can do is hunker down and hope to weather this storm.
The Outhouse reached out to Scott Snyder for further comments and clarification and we will update this story if and when we hear from him.

RU, or as he’s known in the writers’ room: the cute one, is relatively unappreciated in his time. RU’s YouTube show, RUviews is watched by literally multiple people every month and his Outhouse articles have helped line many a bird cage. Before you send RU a message, he knows that there are misspelled words in this article, and probably in this bio he was asked to write. RU wants everyone to know that after 25+ years of collecting he still loves comic books and can’t believe how seriously fanboys take them. RU lives in Akron Ohio (unfortunately) with WIFE, ‘lilRuRu, and the @DogGodThor.
