Avengers vs. All New X-Men in All New X-Men #8?

Check out this first look at Avengers vs. X-Men #8, in which the All New X-Men come face to face with the Avengers.

A long time, die hard X-Men fan like this reporter is still having trouble getting over last year's Avengers vs. X-Men event (see San Francisco 49ers fans after last night's Superbowl loss to the despicable Baltimore Ravens for an example of how fans of Marvel's mutants felt after AvX), but "The Great One" Brian Bendis' All New X-Men has done a great job of healing the wounds. However, this preview of All New X-Men #8 from Marvel Comics tells us that the original X-Men will come face to face with those mutant hating bastards in the Avengers in an upcoming issue, which has me slightly concerned, especially when it comes to Thor, Puncher of Children. From the cover, it appears that the bloodthirsty Asgardian is sizing up the young mutants, deciding which has the softest belly for him to ram his fist into first.

Still, Bendis has done a fantastic job so far on the book, even in the face of accusations of PED abuse, so we'll just have to have faith that he'll do the right thing here. The Avengers are in your past, Great One. The X-Men are the future. And with all the new mutants popping up in the world, it's looking like a bright future after all (because Cyclops was right).

Here's the press release:
