New Muse video goes off the deep end with every Japanese pop culture cliche you can think of.
Muse has released the video for “Panic Station,” the latest single off its current album, The 2nd Law. Set in Tokyo, it’s exactly what you would expect if you crossed Japan with a band who apparently thinks the best album in the world was U2’s Zooropa. (I’d say it was U2's Pop, but nobody on Earth thinks Pop is U2’s best album).
The video features Muse in freaky outfits, Kaiju creatures, bizarre cosplayers, a disturbing dancer who looks like a cross between Japanese schoolgirl and Linda Hunt, and possibly the first example of, ah, tentacle groping in a music video. Everything guaranteed to make sure you don’t get a good night’s sleep tonight.
