DC has listened to all the longtime Legion fans on the board and cancelled Legion of Superheroes. The book, which was the subject of no less than a dozen multipage rants on our forum, has been written by Paul Levitz since it debutted in the New 52. Legion fans should be happy about the news, as it means that the team has finally lost all relevance in today's industry. Here's Mark Waid on the subject:
Holy shit, did DC just end the Legion franchise after 40 years of continuous publication? #AnotherProudNew52Moment— Mark Waid (@MarkWaid) May 13, 2013
Asked for comment, DC head honcho Dan Didio responded, "we were still publishing that? I thought we cancelled that book back in 2007." Now we know for certain: DC doesn't care about the Legion.
Stay tuned, there's more cancellations coming.
UPDATE: We reached out to @ThisIsBobHarras on Twitter, and he responded with some comments on the cancelation:
@judeterror First off, let's correct the assumption right now that this is a cancellation. There is a cycle to any comic book...— Bob Harras (@ThisIsBobHarras) May 13, 2013
@judeterror Legion has reached a point where it was being published we had stories in a cycle that lead us to this point. Now that cycle...— Bob Harras (@ThisIsBobHarras) May 13, 2013
@judeterror was arrived at by churning, churning, then churing still more - churning faster - changing up therhythm a bit...— Bob Harras (@ThisIsBobHarras) May 13, 2013
@judeterror maybe then you start feeling a tickling tensing sensation with the churn, then that reaches a climax, and the cycle is done...— Bob Harras (@ThisIsBobHarras) May 13, 2013
@judeterror then you feel elated, with a profound sense of ennui.Maybe you smoke a cigarette, lie there, reflect - before starting again.— Bob Harras (@ThisIsBobHarras) May 13, 2013
@judeterror I'm not sure if I am still talking about what you asked anymore...sorry what WAS the initial question?— Bob Harras (@ThisIsBobHarras) May 13, 2013
