He only recently recovered from learning of IDW's Rocketeer/Spirit crossover.

80 year old Stanley Moore of Los Angeles is one of the youngest living fans of pulp heroes, so, naturally, we thought he would be very pleased to learn about a new Buck Rogers series coming out in August, written and drawn by legendary curmudgeon Howard Chaykin, from Hermes Press.

"What'd you say?!" asked Stanley when we called him up on his Jitterbug cell phone to relay the news.

"Howard Chaykin is making a new Buck Rogers comic," we told him.

"What?!" he asked again.

"Howard Chaykin is making a new Buck Rogers comic," we told him again.

"There's a snake in my front trousers pocket?!" he cried, misunderstanding us. "Aaaaggghhhhh!"

"No no, sir," we assured him, "There's no snake in your pocket. Sorry about that. We're talking about Howard Chaykin, the comic book creator."

"Yes..." he replied, apprehensively.

"He's bringing back Buck Rogers. Jesus Aburto is doing the colors."

"The coloreds?! Where?! I'll get my shotgun..."

"Nevermind, Mr. Moore!" we quickly interrupted. "We'll call you back later."

You'll have to excuse him. He's from another time.

Buck Rogers in the 25th Century #1 brings the classic sci-fi hero back into comic stores in August. Her's the press release:

Buck Rogers Returns!

Howard Chaykin’s revival of the first, best, and original sci-fi hero returns in August with an all-new four book story-line

Before Star Trek and Star Wars, Buck Rogers captivated audiences around the world and made science fiction a national obsession. Now, Buck along with Colonel Wilma Deering, begin a new fight, to free the United States!

Chaykin’s long anticipated revival of science-fiction’s most archetypal character will hit comic stores in August with Issue #1. See June Previews for more solicitation information.
